SACRO-OCCIPITAL TECHNIQUE (SOT)

A gentle approach that works with your body

Sacro Occipital Technique (SOT) is a comprehensive chiropractic approach pioneered and developed by Dr M. B. De Jarnette in the United States through years of study, research, and clinical application.

SOT is based on the understanding that the nervous system plays an important role in how the body functions. Rather than focusing on named diseases, SOT seeks to identify and address factors that may contribute to nerve dysfunction, using minimal force to support the body’s natural ability to restore and maintain balance.

One of the unique features of SOT is the use of specially designed, wedge-shaped blocks. These are placed beneath the body in specific positions, allowing the body to gently respond and seek a more balanced alignment. There are many possible combinations of block placements, and the appropriate arrangement is determined by specific tests performed before each adjustment.

SOT also recognises the importance of the body’s neurological responses. Muscle strength, tender areas, and other physical signs and indicators provide valuable information to help determine the type of adjustment that may be appropriate.

SOT adjustments are gentle and use minimal force, making this approach particularly appealing to people who prefer a more subtle form of chiropractic care. The aim is to support the body’s natural ability to function, adapt, and maintain balance.
